World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)

World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)

Why it Matters?

  • India hosted the second WADA Intelligence & Investigations Workshop 2025 in New Delhi to strengthen global anti-doping collaboration and capacity building.

What You Should Know?

  • The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) was established on 10 November 1999 to promote and coordinate the global fight against doping in sport.

  • It was created with strong support from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to address the health and ethical threats posed by doping in sports.

  • The WADA Foundation Board includes representatives from both the Olympic Movement (IOC, NOCs, IFs, athletes) and governments from all five continents.

  • WADA’s headquarters is located in Montreal, Canada, with regional offices established on other continents to support its global operations.

  • The agency works independently to unite public authorities and the Olympic Movement in enforcing anti-doping rules and awareness campaigns.
