Why it Matters?
The PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY), launched in the Union Budget 2025–26, merges 36 schemes to enhance agricultural productivity, promote sustainability, and support underperforming districts through focused planning and convergence.
What You Should Know?
The scheme is approved for a period of six years, from 2025–26 to 2030–31.

Infrastructure Goals:
Enhance post-harvest storage at the panchayat and block levels
Improve irrigation facilities
Credit Component:
Facilitate both long-term and short-term farm credit

Progress toward self-reliance in the farm sector
A total of 100 districts will be selected for implementation, based on indicators such as low productivity, low cropping intensity, and low credit disbursement.
At least one district from every State and Union Territory will be covered under the scheme.
The scheme is modelled on the Aspirational District Programme, focusing on convergence, competition, and collaboration.
District-level committees (District Dhan-Dhaanya Samitis) will prepare and oversee the District Agriculture and Allied Activities Plan.
The district plans will be aligned with national goals such as crop diversification, water and soil conservation, self-sufficiency, and organic farming.
Its implementation will be ensured through convergence with State schemes, local initiatives, and private partnerships.
