What You Should Know?
PM JUGA was launched on October 2, 2024, for comprehensive tribal development across India.
It is a centrally sponsored scheme.
The scheme is also known as Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan.
It aims to benefit over 5 crore Scheduled Tribe (ST) people across 63,000 tribal-majority villages.
Seventeen Union ministries are coordinating under PM JUGA to implement flagship schemes.
The programme targets critical gaps in housing, healthcare, education, connectivity, and livelihoods.
The scheme is focused on tribal-majority villages with at least 50% tribal residents and more than 500 population.
It also covers villages in Aspirational Districts with at least 50 tribal residents.
The scheme will be implemented in 549 districts, covering 71% of all Indian districts.
PM JUGA follows a Tribal Village Development Mission model for remote and hard-to-reach areas.
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs is the nodal ministry for implementation and coordination.
