The PMFME Bazaar showcased traditional and value-added food products produced by micro food-processing enterprises from 25 States and Union Territories.
PMFME Scheme: Basic Features
PMFME stands for Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme.
It was launched in 2020 under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) as the nodal ministry.
PMFME is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme and focuses primarily on micro food-processing enterprises, particularly those operating in the informal sector.
Financial Support under PMFME
Individual micro food-processing units can receive a credit-linked capital subsidy of 35% of eligible project cost.
The maximum subsidy is ₹10 lakh per unit.
The beneficiary is required to contribute a minimum 10% of the project cost, with the remaining amount being financed through bank loans.
Self-Help Groups (SHGs) engaged in food processing can receive seed capital for working capital requirements and purchase of small tools.
Assistance is provided for branding and marketing of products, particularly where enterprises and products can benefit from collective branding.
This helps traditional and regional products move from local markets to wider national and international markets.
PMFME Bazaar
PMFME Bazaar functions as a market-access and visibility platform for beneficiaries of the scheme.
It brings products made by micro food-processing entrepreneurs directly before consumers and institutional buyers.
The initiative helps showcase traditional, regional and value-added food products and provides entrepreneurs opportunities for sales, branding and networking.
PMFME vs PM Kisan Sampada Yojana
PMFME and PM Kisan Sampada Yojana: Both are implemented by MoFPI, but PMFME primarily targets micro food-processing enterprises, while PM Kisan Sampada Yojana focuses more broadly on food-processing infrastructure and supply chains.
