What You Should Know?
It stands for The Prime Minister’s Science, Technology & Innovation Advisory Council (PM-STIAC)
It was established in August 2018 as an advisory body, to assess science and technology challenges, advise the Prime Minister, and coordinate national missions.
The Chairperson of PM-STIAC is the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) a Cabinet Secretary level position.
The council comprises scientists, academicians, defense and industry experts.
It functions as an overarching council that:
Assesses critical S&T challenges,
Formulates strategic interventions,
Develops futuristic roadmaps, and
Oversees the implementation of major S&T initiatives across ministries and agencies.
It has guided and approved several flagship missions, including:
Artificial Intelligence Mission
National Quantum Mission
One Health Mission
Electric Vehicle Mission
Waste to Wealth Mission
Deep Ocean Exploration Mission
AGNIi (Accelerating Growth of New India’s Innovations)
Natural Language Translation Mission, and
National Biodiversity Mission
