PM-KISAN Scheme
Why it Matters?
The PM-KISAN Scheme provides ₹6,000 annually to farmers via Aadhaar-seeded DBT. Aadhaar-based payments became mandatory from the 13th instalment, improving accuracy. With 99.92% success in the 19th instalment, tech integration, grievance redressal systems, and the AI-based Kisan eMitra chatbot ensure transparency and support for farmers.
What You Should Know?
PM-KISAN (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) is a Central Sector Scheme, launched in February 2019.
The scheme is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
The scheme provides ₹6,000 per year to eligible landholding farmers, in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each.
Payments are made through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode into Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts.
All landholding farmer families are eligible, provided their land records are available and verified.
Exclusion categories include:
Institutional landholders
Farmer families holding constitutional posts
Former and present MPs/MLAs/Ministers
Income Tax payers in the last assessment year
Professionals like doctors, engineers, lawyers, CA/architects, etc. practicing or employed
