NOTTO – National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization
It is an apex national-level organization set up in 2014.
It functions under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. Its functioning is guided by the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act, 1994 (THOTA)
It is the apex national body for organ and tissue donation and transplantation.
Its functions include:
Maintains National Waiting List and allocation system for deceased donor organs.
Coordinates with State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organizations (SOTTOs) and Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organizations (ROTTOs).
Develops and enforces transplant protocols, ensures ethical practices.
Maintains the National Organ & Tissue Transplant Registry for data collection.
Conducts public awareness and training programs for medical professionals.
It is headquartered in Safdarjung Hospital Campus, New Delhi.
