National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) was established in 1953 by the Government of India.
Its core mandate is to develop, promote, and transfer technologies from national research and development (R&D) institutions to industry.
It is headquartered in New Delhi, with a branch office in Bangalore.
It is a wholly Government-owned company, registered under the Companies Act, 1956, and now governed by Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013.
It operates under the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.
Functions:
It acts as a catalyst in converting scientific innovations into marketable industrial products.
It covers diverse sectors such as chemicals, pesticides, drugs, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, metallurgy, electronics, instrumentation, building materials, mechanical engineering, agriculture, and food.
It is recognised as a major repository of technologies across almost all industrial sectors.
It maintains strong linkages with both Indian and international R&D organizations.
Its notable licensed technologies include Indelible Ink, Artificial Heart Valve, Infant Food, Super Absorbent Hydrogel, Azadirachtin formulations, Crop-specific micronutrients, and Vijetha/Ankush Silkworm Disinfectants.
It supports micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), startups, and industries in accessing indigenous R&D outputs.
NRDC administers two major DSIR-funded technology promotion programs:

Program for Development of Technologies for Commercialization (PDTC)
