AIBD is a regional inter-governmental organization.
It was established in 1977 under UNESCO.
It is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Its objective is to promote cooperative media, policy exchange, resource sharing, and capacity building.
Its members include 92 organizations from 44 countries.
26 government members (national broadcasters).
44 affiliate members from Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa, Arab States, and North America.
India is a founding member, represented by Prasar Bharati.
India is re-elected as President of AIBD for 3rd consecutive term
