  • Context:

  • The Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) released its Year End Review 2025

  • Key Initiatives & Achievements:

  • Revised MSME Definition:

  • To help MSMEs scale, the Union Budget 2025-26 increased investment and turnover limits, effective from April 1, 2025.

  • Formalization:

  • Udyam Registration Portal that was launched in 2020 facilitates free, paperless registration.

  • Udyam Assist Platform (UAP) aims to bring Informal Micro Enterprises (IMEs) into the formal fold and enable them to avail Priority Sector Lending (PSL) benefits.

  • Over 7.30 crore enterprises have registered across both platforms as of December 2025.

  • PM Vishwakarma Scheme:

  • The objective is to support traditional artisans and craftspeople.

  • It successfully achieved the target of 30 lakh beneficiary registrations within two years of implementation.

  • Credit Guarantee Scheme (CGSMSE):

  • Recently the scheme has completed celebrating 25 years

  • It has enhanced its guaranteed coverage ceiling to ₹10 crore to improve credit accessibility for micro and small enterprises.

  • PMEGP Performance:

  • Since inception, the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme has assisted over 10.71 lakh micro-enterprises, generating estimated employment for more than 87 lakh persons.

  • Since June 2025, applications are accepted in 19 regional languages.
