Why In News:
MY Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat), the autonomous body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, has launched the Viksit Vibrant Village Programme (VVVP) 2026 to strengthen youth engagement in border villages of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Ladakh.
What is MY Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat)?
500 youth MY Bharat Volunteers from across India will begin a week-long immersive experience in border villages.
The programme anchors youth engagement through Five Themes of the Nation First Challenge across 100 border villages.
Established: MY Bharat was launched by PM Narendra Modi on 31 October 2023 on National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas — birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel).
Nature: It is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. It serves as a tech-enabled platform for youth development and engagement.
Target Group: Youth aged 15–29 years. Aligned with the National Youth Policy 2014 which defines 'youth' as this age bracket.
Objective: To provide a phygital (physical + digital) platform for youth to engage with national development programmes — Viksit Bharat, Swachhata, Skilling, Digital India, etc.
What is the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP)?
The Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme announced in Budget 2022–23.
It targets underdeveloped border villages (particularly in the Indo-China border belt) to prevent out-migration and boost border infrastructure.
Covered States/UTs: Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Ladakh — all states along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Key Focus Areas: Housing, road connectivity, livelihood, tourism, renewable energy, and social infrastructure.
Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for the original VVP scheme; the new VVVP is a youth-engagement overlay under Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
