VB-GRAM G Scheme (Government Schemes & Initiatives)
VB-GRAM G Scheme (Government Schemes & Initiatives)
Why In News:
The Centre has set aside ₹95,692.31 crore under the VB-GRAMG Act, 2025- a statutory rural employment guarantee law passed by Parliament in December 2025, replacing MGNREGA.
What is VB-GRAMG?
VB-GRAMG stands for Viksit Bharat Rozgar aur Ajeevika Guarantee Mission (Gramin).
It is a statutory rural employment guarantee Act that guarantees 125 days of unskilled manual work per year to rural households (up from 100 days under MGNREGA).
Funds flow directly to approximately 2.80 lakh Gram Panchayats; project selection rests with Gram Panchayats and Gram Sabhas. Rollout begins July 1, 2026.
States like UP, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu receive the highest allocations due to their large rural workforces and high numbers of Gram Panchayats.
Adult members of rural areas may demand employment through the Gram Panchayat. Applications can be made orally, in writing, or through digital platforms to the Gram Panchayat, Programme Officer, or any authorized person.
Employment must be provided within 15 days from the date of application.
