  • It was established in 1874 and is headquartered in Bern, Switzerland. 

  • The UPU coordinates international postal policies and promotes cooperation among postal services. 

  • It has four main bodies: the Congress, Council of Administration (CA), Postal Operations Council (POC), and International Bureau. 

  • The Congress is the supreme decision-making body and meets every four years. 

  • The UPU sets standards for international mail exchange and promotes digital transformation. 

  • India has been a member of the UPU since 1876.
