Why In News:

The National Statistical Office (NSO) released the Quarterly Bulletin of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (QBUSE), providing high-frequency information on India's unincorporated, non-agricultural sector.

What is QBUSE?

It provides quarterly estimates of key indicators of the unincorporated non-agricultural sector between the annual rounds of the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE).

It is released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI).

Unincorporated Non-Agricultural Sector

The sector comprises enterprises operating without incorporation under the Companies Act, primarily covering manufacturing, trade and services.

Agriculture and construction are excluded from the QBUSE/ASUSE coverage.

These enterprises are generally characterised by small-scale operations, informal employment arrangements and limited institutional registration.

The sector is an important source of employment, entrepreneurship and local economic activity, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.

Three Broad Sectors Covered

Manufacturing: Small-scale production and processing enterprises.

Trade: Wholesale and retail trading activities.

Services: A wide range of service activities undertaken by unincorporated enterprises.
