Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation
Context:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently chaired the 50th meeting of Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation (PRAGATI). Over the last decade, this platform has accelerated the implementation of more than 3,300 projects with a cumulative investment exceeding ₹85 lakh crore.
About PRAGATI:
It is an Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-based multi-modal platform aimed at addressing common man’s grievances and monitoring and reviewing important programmes and projects of the Government of India as well as State Governments.

Key Insights from the 50th Meeting:
A review revealed that 73% of project issues arise from just three causes:Land Acquisition (35%) is the single biggest hurdle.Forest/Wildlife/Environment Clearances (20%) is the second-largest cause.Right of Use/Way (18%) issues related to permission for laying infrastructure.Out of 3,187 issues raised in projects personally reviewed by the PM, 2,958 (approx. 93%) have been resolved.Despite land acquisition being a primary bottleneck, the government clarified there is no plan to change the existing land acquisition law.
