Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) - India's highest civilian honour for children - including its updated eligibility criteria for 2026 and recent awardees were highlighted.
The award is presented annually on Veer Bal Diwas (26 December), which commemorates the martyrdom of the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
About PMRBP
Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) is India's highest civilian honour for children aged 5-18 years, constituted under the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
Awarded annually by the President of India at the Rashtriya Bal Puraskar Ceremony on Veer Bal Diwas (26 December).
Award components: Medal, Certificate, and Citation. Recipients also get an opportunity to participate in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi.

Eligibility Criteria for 2026
Must be Indian citizens and residents of India only.
Age: 5-18 years as on 31 July 2026.
Must not be previous recipients (no individual can win twice).
Achievement must be within 2 years before 31 July 2026.
Veer Bal Diwas (26 December)
Commemorates the martyrdom of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh (9 years) and Sahibzada Fateh Singh (7 years) - younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji - who were bricked alive in 1704 by the Mughal Governor of Sirhind for refusing to convert.
