Joint Exercise SURYAKIRAN XIX
Context:
The 19th edition of the Joint Military Exercise "SURYAKIRAN XIX 2025" between India and Nepal commenced on November 25, 2025, at Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.
The exercise is scheduled to be conducted from November 25 to December 08, 2025.
About the Exercise:
Indian Contingent comprises 334 personnel, represented mainly by troops from the ASSAM Regiment.
The aim is to jointly rehearse the conduct of Sub-Conventional operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations Mandate.
This edition especially aims to enhance interoperability between the troops to reduce risks during peace-keeping operations while adhering to UN interests.

Jungle Warfare and Counter-Terrorism Operations in Mountainous Terrain.
Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief (HADR).

This edition emphasizes incorporating niche and emerging technologies, including:
Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and drone-based ISR.
AI-enabled decision support tools.
Unmanned logistic vehicles and armoured protection platforms.

This further enhances the level of defence cooperation and fosters strong bilateral relations between the two neighbouring nations.
