Dharma Chakra Pravartana (Turning of the Wheel of Dharma)
It refers to the first sermon delivered by Lord Buddha after attaining enlightenment, at Sarnath near Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
The central teachings of the sermon included:
Four Noble Truths – Suffering (Dukkha), its origin (Samudaya), cessation (Nirodha), and the path leading to its cessation (Magga).
Noble Eightfold Path – Right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration.
The term “Dharma Chakra” symbolizes the Wheel of Dharma, representing the propagation of Buddha’s wisdom and the path to liberation.
