Bharat-VISTAAR
Context:
Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare is set to launch a new AI-based digital companion named ‘Bharat-VISTAAR’ in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
The launch is part of the government's push to integrate technology into agriculture under the vision of making Indian farming "smart".
Key Features of Bharat-VISTAAR:
One-Stop Solution:
It is designed to provide farmers with comprehensive information on weather, market prices, pest and disease management, soil health, and crop advice through a single platform.
Accessibility:
Farmers can access the service through phone calls, chatbots, and eventually a dedicated mobile application, ensuring 24x7 smart assistance.
Scheme Integration:
By May 2026, all central government schemes will be integrated into the platform, allowing farmers to check eligibility, apply for benefits, track status, and resolve complaints seamlessly.
Implementation Roadmap:
Phase-1:
The facility will initially launch in Hindi and English, covering lakhs of farmers in states such as Maharashtra, Bihar, and Gujarat.
Language Expansion:
Within the next 3 months, services will expand to include Tamil, Bengali, Assamese, and Kannada.
Within 6 months, the platform will support a total of 11 languages (English, Hindi, and 9 regional languages).
Personalization:
The AI will offer personalized advice tailored to specific farming needs, including crop suitability and fertilizer requirements.
