APEDA (Agriculture)
Why In News:
APEDA, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, is contributing to India's BHARATI Programme - a flagship initiative to promote innovation-led growth in agri-food exports, with a target of $50 billion in agri-food exports by 2030.
About APEDA
Established: 1986 under the APEDA Act, 1985(statutory body).
Under: Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
Mandate: Development and promotion of export of scheduled products - which include fresh fruits and vegetables, processed foods, meat, dairy, poultry, and honey, among others.
APEDA also registers exporters, sets quality standards, provides financial assistance for market development, and undertakes export promotion activities.
BHARATI Programme
BHARATI (Bharat’s Hub for Agritech, Resilience, Advancement and Incubation for Export Enablement) is an initiative launched by APEDA to strengthen India’s agri-food exports through innovation and startup-led solutions.
Key pillars: Value addition, start-up ecosystem development, technology integration, and global market access.
Target: $50 billion in India's agri-food exports by 2030, up from approximately $53 billion in 2022-23
