APAAR ID

APAAR ID

Why it Matters?

  • CBSE has relaxed mandatory APAAR ID for board exams after schools reported Aadhaar mismatches, technical issues, and lack of parental consent. Schools can mark entries as ‘REFUSED’ or ‘NOGEN’.

What You Should Know?

  • APAAR stands for Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry.

  • It is part of the “One Nation, One Student ID” initiative under NEP 2020.

  • It provides a unique lifelong ID for every student in India.

  • The ID will record academic achievements, credits, co-curricular activities and skill development.

  • It is linked to the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) for credit transfer and higher education mobility.

  • Aadhaar-based authentication is used for generating the ID.

  • Since no additional certificates are required to be provided except sharing APAAR ID where all credentials are stored, there is no fear of losing hard copy certificates.
