Why In News:
India's indigenous Netra Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C) received its final operational clearance, marking a major milestone in India's defence self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat framework.
The platform is now operationally deployable by the Indian Air Force (IAF).

What is the Netra AEW&C System?
Netra is developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), specifically by the Centre for Airborne Systems (CABS), Bengaluru.
It is mounted on the Embraer EMB-145 business jet platform (Brazilian-origin aircraft modified for the mission).
The system uses an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar to detect airborne targets - aircraft, helicopters, missiles, and low-observable targets - at long range.
It provides 240-degree surveillance capability over large areas, extending the IAF's situational awareness far beyond ground-based radars.
